本曲以古时寻常百姓的视角，忆述着一段拓疆筑城的晦昧往事：邻姝旧梦，随父拓疆，一别鬓发忽已苍。如今寻迹来，城深楼已高，不见故人影，唯余两茫茫。

From the perspective of the ordinary people in ancient times, this piece recalls a period of territorial expansion. A girl followed her father to the frontier and stayed. In the blink of an eye, her hair turned gray. Time passed swiftly, and whilst the ancient city towers still remained, the people who once dwelled inside had long since gone.
