Formed in April 2020 around core members Nao and Michael, Tokyo-based shoegaze quartet LUNE make their physical released debut with their full-length effort "what have we become".
The album features guest appearances from the likes of eureka (For Tracy Hyde/Ferri-Chrome) on the intro track "fuyu no nioi" and yngw (CAUCUS/BOAR HUNTER) on the CD-exclusive bnus track "infinite intimacy". Drums on the release were performed by Yoshiki Niioka (the terminal stage), who also handled mixing and mastering of the record.
"what have we become" covers a wide range of sounds, from summery pop tunes to hard-driving alt-rock, to gothy shoegaze tracks, and post rock feels.
The contrasting but well-balanced vocal styles and shoegaze catharsis work insanely well together, and the lush, dark vibe of their sound draws on the likes of 4AD artists like Cocteau Twins and This Mortal Coil.
